Our Mission
Kosher Connect exists to help Jewish families, travelers, and kashrut-observant consumers find kosher food across the communities the directory covers. This page describes where that data comes from and what the team can and cannot tell you about it.
Sourcing
Listings come from three streams:
- Certification agencies. Most of the directory is built from the supervised-establishment lists the agencies publish themselves, including ORB, OU Kosher, the Kashrus Council of Lakewood, the Vaad Harabonim of Queens, the RCC (Rabbinical Council of California), OK Kosher, Star-K, cRc (Chicago Rabbinical Council), RCBC, and other local vaadim. Where a listing came from one of those lists, we keep the address of that list on file with the listing.
- Direct business submissions. Owners can submit their establishment through the add-business form. A submission waits in a review queue rather than going straight to the site. Before publishing it, the team looks for the establishment on its stated agency's current list. A submission we cannot match there stays on hold until the owner can point us at a certificate.
- Community reports. Anyone can report a closure, a wrong phone number, or a change in certification from the listing itself. The report goes to the team by email. It never changes a listing on its own. A person reads it and decides what to do.
What We Do and Do Not Do
Kosher Connect does not certify establishments and does not independently verify kosher certification status. Nobody from the team inspects a kitchen or visits a site, and no job re-checks a listing on a schedule. What the directory reports is the certification an establishment says it holds. Every listing shows that certification status, and where the agency behind it is known, the listing names it.
Two things follow from that:
- A listing reflects what its source said when we recorded it. It is not a check we ran on the day you read the page.
- When it matters, confirm with the establishment or a recognized kashrut authority before you rely on what you see here. Our Terms say the same thing.
Accuracy and Corrections
Kosher certification is dynamic. Establishments can lose supervision, change agencies, or close, and the directory learns about it after the fact. If you notice an error or an outdated entry, please contact us. Someone standing in front of the place usually knows before we do.
Halachic Scope
Kosher Connect is not itself a kashrut certification agency and does not rule on halachic questions. We list establishments that report active certification, and we name the certifying agency alongside the listing wherever that name is known to us. Users should consult their own rabbinic authority regarding which certifications meet their personal standard of observance.
Data Freshness
Listing pages on Kosher Connect are regenerated hourly via incremental static regeneration (ISR). City, neighborhood, agency, and holiday directory pages show the most recent listing data on every load. Regeneration refreshes a page from our database. It does not re-check anything with a certifying agency.
