Kosher Connect

Editorial Standards

How Kosher Connect verifies every kosher listing, sources certification data, and maintains an accurate directory across 200+ cities.

Our Mission

Kosher Connect exists to help Jewish families, travelers, and kashrus-observant consumers find reliable kosher food anywhere in the world. Every listing in our directory is maintained by our editorial team to the standards described on this page.

Sourcing

Listings are sourced from four streams:

  • Certification agencies. Primary data is cross-checked against the public supervised-establishments lists published by agencies including the Orthodox Union (OU), OK Kosher, Star-K, cRc (Chicago Rabbinical Council), RCC (Rabbinical Council of California), Kof-K, RCBC, ORB, and local vaadim.
  • Direct business submissions. Owners can submit their establishment via the add-business form. Every submission is reviewed against the certifying agency's current list before publication.
  • Community reports. Kosher Connect users can report corrections, closures, or certification changes. Community reports are verified before being acted on.
  • Field verification. For major markets (Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Brooklyn, Lakewood, Teaneck, Baltimore, Chicago), our editorial team periodically checks for updates, closures, and changes in supervision.

Verification Process

Before a listing is published or updated, we confirm:

  • The specific certifying agency and its current supervision status
  • The level of supervision (mehadrin, glatt, cholov yisroel, pas yisroel, bishul yisroel) where applicable
  • Address, phone number, and operating status
  • Category (restaurant, bakery, caterer, grocery, etc.)

Accuracy and Corrections

Kosher certification is dynamic. Establishments can lose supervision, change agencies, or close. If you notice an error or outdated entry, please contact us — we investigate every report.

Halachic Scope

Kosher Connect is not itself a kashrus certification agency and does not rule on halachic questions. We list establishments that hold active certification from recognized agencies and display each agency's name on the listing. Users should consult their own rabbinic authority regarding which certifications meet their personal standard of observance.

Data Freshness

Listing pages on Kosher Connect are regenerated hourly via incremental static regeneration (ISR). City, neighborhood, agency, and holiday directory pages show the most recent listing data on every load.
